Cocoa Brownies from Katherine Hepburn

Did Ms. Hepburn really make these brownies? I will never know but any recipe The New York Times publishes has never failed me.
Cocoa Brownies
Ingredients
- 1/2 C. Cocoa
- 1 Stick Unsalted Butter
- 2 Lg. Eggs
- 1 C. Sugar
- 1/4 C. Flour
- 1 C. Walnuts or Pecans (chopped)
- 1 t. Vanilla
- Pinch of Salt
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees; grease an 8″ square baking dish
- Melt butter in a saucepan; add the cocoa and stir until smooth; remove from heat and cool for a few minutes
- Whisk in the eggs one at a time, stir in the vanilla
- In another bowl cmbine the sugar, flour and salt; add to the cocoa mixture and stir until combined
- Pour into prepared pan and bake for 40 minutes (do not overbake); let cool before cutting into squares
