Strawberry Sauce

Welcome to Florida Strawberry Season.  The first thing I do is make some of this luscious sauce. Use it for ice cream, yogurt, cakes, smoothies, fruit salads and salad dressings. Enjoy.



Strawberry Sauce


  • 2 lbs. Fresh Strawberries (rinsed, hulled and cut up)
  • 1/2 C. Sugar
  • 1/4 C. Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice (maybe a bit more)
  • Juice and rind of 1/2 Lemon
  • 2 T. Unsalted Butter


  1. Combine the sugar, orange juice and lemon juice in a medium pot; bring to a light boil
  2. Add the lemon zest and strawberries
  3. Heat thoroughly and then stir in the butter
  4. Cool thoroughly

Yield: approx. 2 1/2 Cups


Served here with a slice of Orange Cake
