Waldorf Salad

This is the only time of year I find this combination of grape that is partially green and somewhat purple.  The perfect grape for this old-fashioned salad.  Thank you Waldorf Astoria.


Waldorf Salad


  • 1 C. Walnuts (toasted and chopped)
  • 1 C. Celery (thinly sliced)
  • 1 C. Seedless Grapes (green or red)
  • 2 Apples (cored and diced
  • 5 T. Mayonnaise
  • 2 T. Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Lettuce (optional, as needed) (not used in this recipe but sometimes I do) *

* Serve on a bed of lettuce or chop and add to the salad

(I also make this salad with shrimp or chicken)


  1. Whisk the mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt and a touch of pepper; chill
  2. Combine the apples, celery, grapes and walnuts
  3. Add the dressing and mix well, serve in chilled glasses or salad plates




Add some shrimp to the same recipe….enjoy! Just adjust the amount of dressing.

        Poached Chicken is very bland, you’d be surprised how much more flavorful the salad is with lemon pepper rotisserie chicken added.
