Great Grains Breakfast Cookies

I don’t eat a lot of cereal but if I do it is Great Grains and just a couple of those.  This one is my favorite and needed some breakfast cookies instead of that “whole bowl thing”.


Great Grains Breakfast Cookies


  • 1/2 C. Butter (room temperature)
  • 3/4 C. Packed Brown Sugar *
  • 1 Lg. Egg
  • 1 T. Grated Orange Peel
  • 1 C. Flour
  • 1 t. Baking Powder
  • 2 C. Post Selects Great Grains Cereal (raising, dates and pecans) **
  • 1/2 C. Chocolate Chips (optional)

* Original recipe used 1 1/2 C. Brown Sugar

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluff
  3. Add the egg, orange peel and beat until blended
  4. Add flour and baking powder and mix well
  5. Stir in the cereal slowly and then the chocolate chips
  6. Drop 1T. of dough (2″ apart) on ungreased cookie sheet
  7. Bake for 10-12 min.; remove from oven and let set for 2 min.
  8. Remove to a wire rack and cool completely
