Broccoli and Cheese Tart

November 10, 2011

This is hardly a recipe but years ago you could find some vegetable tarts in the frozen section at the grocer, but where did they go?  I had  them quite a few years when my children were young that this was the best way to get a vegetable on the plate.  So now I make my own and I like them even better.  Choose your vegetables and cheeses and have  a vegetable pastry feast.

Broccoli and Cheese Tart

  • 1 Pillsbury Puff Pastry Crust
  • 8 oz. Broccoli Florets
  • 8 oz. Cheddar Cheese
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 2 T. Butter (melted)

  1. Defrost pie crust and line a baking sheet (any shape is good); roll the edges over to define shape
  2. Blanch broccoli florets; set aside to drain and cool
  3. Put the broccoli in the tart and season with salt and pepper
  4. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top of the broccoli and brush with the melted butter
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for approx. 30-40 minutes (crust will brown and cheese will begin to bubble)

(Serves 6-8)

Recipe or not, I’m sure it’s a crowd pleaser!
