Chocolate and Nutella Pear Tart

October 20, 2011

When you have pears, chocolate and Nutella in the house be sure and make this super, simple tart.  Make sure the pears are very ripe (I had these in the house 4 days and they were finally perfect).  Something so elegant that can be made in moments.  Here in Florida it seems to be difficult to get pears to ripen appropriately as usually they start out hard as a brick and may turn overnight to mush or never ripen at all.  But I still always buy them with the hope that this successful dessert will happen.

Chocolate and Nutella Pear Tart

  • 1 9″ Pie Crust (make your own or purchased)
  • 4 Medium Pears (sliced thinly)
  • 12 oz. Dark Chocolate
  • 3/4 C. Nutella
  • 1/4 C. Espresso Coffee
  • 1 T. Jam (Four Berry Jam used here)

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees; place rolled out pastry dough in tart pan
  2. Bake for approximately 10 minutes; remove from oven
  3. Melt the chocolate; stir in the Nutella and add about 1/4 C. coffee and stir well
  4. Pour the chocolate into the warmed pie shell and cover with the pears in a design of your choice
  5. Brush with a favorite jam; chill about 1 hour (if chilled more than 1 hour; remove from refrigerator until room temperature before serving

(Serves 8-10)

Thank you so much/my photo does not show how delicious this is/but so many friends would not eat. They could not comprehend pears and chocolate-I had no words-but big eye rolls.
