Nutella Banana and Walnut Pastry Purses

Join in the fun today February 5, for “World Nutella Day”.  There are a lot of Nutella recipes flying around today so it is hard to decide what to make next!  These little beauties I found on Elaine’s website at www.theitaliandishblog.com.  You must visit her site for some fantastic recipes in all categories.  I am really loving these today though.  I have two obstacles to cope with (not a problem).  I could not find hazelnuts in any form and would have loved them but the walnuts did the trick for me.  I also can’t seem to pinch these guys enough, guess I will practice, practice, practice.  Or maybe I just loaded them too much, I like it.  You can also visit www.nutelladay.com and get great recipes for all things Nutella.  If you are a Twitter Fan follow them both @ItalianDish and @NutellaDay as well.

Nutella Banana and Walnut PastryPurses

Ingredients

  • 1 Sheet Frozen Puff Pastry Dough
  • Some Nutella
  • 1 Banana
  • 1/4-1/2 C Walnuts (chopped and optional) (or your choice of nut)

 Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  2. Defrost pastry dough in refrigerator
  3. Place on a lightly floured surface; cut into 9 squares
  4. Place the pastry squares on baking sheet lined with parchment paper
  5. Drop 2 t. Nutella in center of each square
  6. Place one slice of the banana on top of the Nutella
  7. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts
  8. Bring opposite corners of pasty together in center and pinch to close
  9. Repeat with the other two opposite corners; seal well
  10. Bake for about 15 minutes (until golden brown)
  11. If the purses open during baking; seal back together after you take them out of oven
