Brussels Sprouts with Bacon and Garlic

Brussels sprouts lovers will take them just about any way you want to serve them.  The “haters” might be converted with this recipe.  Sweet and buttery with some bacon, oh yes, please.  I have been making them for years, since the time I worked on a farm in Glastonbury, Connecticut.  I never see them here in Florida on the stalk as they grow which is a shame, but I still must buy what I can find.

Brussels Sprouts with Bacon and Garlic


  • 1 lb. Brussel Sprouts
  • 4 Slices Bacon
  • 2 Cloves Garlic (chopped fine)
  • 2 T. Butter


  1. Steam brussels sprouts and put in ice bath
  2. Cook bacon until crispy, drain and chop
  3. Pour off most of bacon fat (reserve for future use), add butter
  4. Saute garlic until tender
  5. Add brussels sprouts and bacon and heat
  6. Serve in a warmed vegetable bowl

(Serves 4-6)

(Have been cooking them with garlic for years, added the bacon 2010)
