Mushroom and Fontina Cheese Bruschetta

A wonderful and tasty hors d’oeuvre to start a party.   With a baguette in the house and some other tasty foods make something memorable, which is easy to make and easier to eat.  Have the mushrooms ready in advance and just before your guests arrive get them ready for the hot oven.  Bruschetta can be made with multitudes of ingredients so take advantage of what is quickly available and come up with a new creation every time.

Mushroom with Fontina Cheese Bruschetta


  • 3 T. Butter
  • 1/4 C. Shallots (finely chopped)
  • 2 Garlic Cloves (minced)
  • 1 lb. Mushrooms (finely chopped)
  • 2 T. Fresh Thyme
  • Salt and Freshly Ground Pepper
  • 1 Baguette (sliced)
  • 3 C. Fontina Cheeses (diced)
  • Fresh Parsley or Thyme for garnish


  1. Saute shallots and garlic in butter for about 2 minutes
  2. Add the mushrooms and thyme increasing heat to high and continue stirring until the liquid disappears and mushrooms are softened and browned
  3. Season with salt and pepper as needed
  4. Slice baguette and place on a sheet pan and broil one side approximately 2 minutes
  5. Turn the bread slices over and top the bread with the mushroom mixture and add the cheese
  6. Place back under the broiler for 2-3 minutes (until the cheese melts)
  7. Serve immediately

    Whats not to love here? I love bruschetta, I love mushrooms, and I love love cheese! 😉 Crazing inducing indeed!!!
