Old Fashioned Custard Pie

It is so true that the basics will travel through the years, transcend and suffice the yearnings of the memories of life. And this is the pie that does all of those things for me. I don’t see this pie often (other than in my home) but it was common years ago for a ‘celebration’ or everyday.
Old Fashioned Custard Pie
Ingredients
- 1 9″ Pie Crust (unbaked)
- 4 Lg. Eggs
- 1/2 C. Sugar
- 1/4 t. Salt
- 1 C. Heavy Cream (scalded)
- 1 1/2 C. Whole Milk (scalded)
- 1 t. Vanilla Extract
- 1/4 t. Nutmeg
Preparation
- Mix eggs, sugar and salt
- Slowly stir in the hot cream and milk mixture; add vanilla and thoroughly combine
- Pour into the unbaked pie shell; sprinkle with nutmeg
- Bake at 425 degrees approx 25 minutes
