Chocolate Chip Cake

The easy and every day cake that your 5 or 6 year old can and will make for you. This simple cake can be more than you know. Usually I make this cake with no frosting but for a Holiday this cake is a star.
Chocolate Chip Cake
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 C. Flour
- 2 t. Baking Powder
- 1/2 t. Salt
- 1/2 C. Sugar
- 1/2 C. Unsalted Butter (softened)
- 1/2 C. Whole Milk
- 1 Lg. Egg
- 1 C. Mini Chocolate Chips
- Ganache (optional) See below for Recipe
- Red Sugar Decors (optional
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees and butter and 8″ round cake pan (may use square pan if not making heart
- Mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together in a lare bowl
- In a smaller bowl add the melted butter and stir inthe milk and egg and whisk well; add to the flour mixture and blend well
- Add the chocolate chips; stir well and pour into the prepared pan;bake for about 25 minutes; remove from oven and cool on a rack for 10 minutes; turn out onto serving plate
- Optional/pour the ganache slowly over cake and sprinkle with the decors

Ganache
Ingredients
- 1 C. Heavy Cream
- 1 T. Unsalted Butter
- 9 oz. Bittersweet Chocolate (chopped
- 1 t. Vanilla Extract
Preparation
- Heat the cream and butter in a medium saucepan on low until hot and butter is melted (mixture will form tiny bubbles-175 degrees); do not boil
- Remove pan from heat and add chocolate; whisk just until all the chcolated melts and ganache is smooth; stir in the vanilla
- Let cool to thicken slightly (approx. 30 min.)
- May be covered and refrigerated for 1 week/warm over low heat while stirring to soften
